Cooktown Orchid

Our GLS plant of the month for June is the beautiful Cooktown Orchid Dendrobium phalaenopsis.

This lovely purple orchid grows on trunks and branches of trees. The flower clusters have up to ten flowers and grow on canes up to 4 cm long. The Cooktown Orchid was proclaimed as the floral emblem of Queensland in 1959, it is one of the most colourful orchard species in Australia .
