Get your winter vegetable garden started💚

Autumn is a great time to plant the vegetables that love the cooler weather. Beans, beetroot, broccoli, cabbage, capsicum, leeks, lettuce, onions, peas, potatoes, silver beet and tomatoes are just some of the vegetables that grow well in winter.

Below are some useful tips to get your winter vegetable garden started:

•Position your winter garden in the sunniest section of your yard •Young, fragile plants are susceptible to damage from frost. Get your vegetables established now before the frosty weather sets in •There are less pests and diseases in the winter months, however its best to ensure good air circulation through adequate spacing and avoid watering the leaves of the plants as trapped moisture will harbour diseases. •Less watering is required in winter due to lower evaporation rate. You will need to water your plants during longer dry spells. •Feed your vegetables with organic matter check out our composting tips in this blog page

Enjoy those winter veggies!
